Akamai Adobe HTTP Dynamic Streaming
Finally a good demo of Adobe’s new HTTP based Dynamic streaming. Can’t wait to dissect this one a bit more. Here is more information about the new feature included in Flash Player 10.1.
Can’t wait to come up with an open source solution to this type of streaming.
Windows and Apple also have their technology
1. Microsoft IIS Smooth Streaming
2. Apple HTTP Live Streaming
But only apple devices support tag with html streaming (but with ‘Apple HTTP Streaming’ technology).
I hope soon there would be a common standard for http video streaming that supports tag on HTML5.
I mean tag in HTML5
I have just across some sites using adobe http dynamic streaming. Has there been any progress that you’re aware in the open source community to deal with this?
I believe erlyvideo has support for VOD HDS. Although i’m not sure how it does the packaging.
There are some other alternatives that are cheaper than FMS but aren’t GPL such as Wowza
